INSTER takes Fixed Radio Access Systems to the next level with its renewed SGoAir system

The demand for broadband services doubles every three years, so the development of equipment with high traffic capacity represents a competitive advantage.

Taking the new DOCSIS 3.1 headers, with up to 1 GHz of bandwidth, INSTER has developed the point-multipoint radio system with the highest bandwidth / coverage on the market to date. This milestone opens a clear alternative to fiber for last mile access, allowing quick and easy deployments in places where no other type of solution is possible.

The technological challenge consisted in designing equipment with 448 MHz of bandwidth capable of transmitting 2,5 Gbps in a sector radio with coverage of up to 1,5 km. These radio equipment were designed in the 28 GHz band following the channels defined by ITU-R, which will allow their implementation in all countries that follow the recommendations of the ITU-R TR 13-02 Annex C, thus expanding INSTER’S commercial capacity and the potential markets in which it could operate.

The key objective of this technological development has been focused on strengthening and expanding the market for the Wireless DOCSIS 3.1 system currently developed by INSTER, introducing technical improvements in order to expand the capacity of the system and the target geographic areas, paying special attention to the containment of costs. The development of a point-multipoint system based on the new DOCSIS 3.1 standard represents a leap forward in the technology used for these systems. The renewal of this technology means, broadly speaking, a substantial improvement of the capacities, allowing, not only to increase the speeds of the service, but also the number of clients per sector.

This project has been co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) with the aim of promoting technological development, innovation and quality research.
