Indra and Grupo Oesía show the interoperability of their simulators at the 2E+I Forum

Toledo, October 2, 2024 – Indra, a global company of reference in the aerospace and defense sector, and Grupo Oesía, a Spanish multinational company dedicated to dual-use digital and industrial engineering, yesterday in the framework of the 2E+I Forum in Toledo, carried out a live demonstration of the interoperability between the SIMACA artillery simulator (Oesía Group), located at the Artillery Academy in Segovia, and the Tiger helicopter simulator (Indra), located at the Coronel Sánchez Bilbao Base in Almagro.
The demonstration consisted in the simulation of a close air fire action (CAS).
SIMACA military personnel conducted a CAS action in the virtual terrain of the Army’s San Gregorio maneuver field (Zaragoza), communicating through the HLA interoperability standard (promoted by NATO) with the pilot of the Tiger simulator.
This CAS action not only involved the flight of the Tiger helicopter over the targets designated by the SIMACA observer, but also an artillery fire action carried out by a line of pieces located in the SIMACA.
During the simulation exercise it was possible to test the interoperability of entities and explosions in both simulators in a joint and coordinated manner.
This proof of concept is the first step to achieve the necessary integration of the different types of simulators available to the Army.
The use of standards such as DIS and HLA, as well as a distributed network of simulator federation is key to achieve such interoperability.
This technology will allow each user to train on its own simulators and, in turn, to participate jointly in larger-scale simulation exercises.
Operational since 2001, the Field Artillery Simulator SIMACA of Grupo Oesía is considered one of the best Artillery Simulation Centers worldwide.
SIMACA provides a complete simulation environment for the formation, training and evaluation of the personnel of the different units that make up a field artillery group and has become one of the key tools for the technical and tactical training of the professionals of the Spanish Army.
Indra has developed the simulators for the Chinook, Cougar, Tigre, NH90 and EC135 helicopters which are part of the ACAVIET and which are installed in the bases of the Army’s Air Mobile Forces in Colmenar Viejo, Almagro and Albaceta.
All of them are equipped with the HLA standard for interoperation and make up one of the most advanced Helicopter Simulation Centers in Europe.
This experience provides Indra with the capacity to integrate other of its simulators, such as those of Leopard or Pizarro, to provide them with the same interoperability.

SGoSat

Family of SATCOM On The Move (SOTM) terminals for vehicular installation and stable mobile connection

SGoSat is a family of high-tech SOTM (Satellite Comms On The Move) terminals that are installed in a vehicle, providing the ability to target and maintain a stable connection to the satellite when the vehicle is in motion in any type of conditions.

The SGoSat family is composed of versatile terminals, which can be installed on any type of platform: trains and buses, military and/or government vehicles, aircraft, ships, etc. Originally designed for the military sector, SGoSat terminals are extremely reliable and robust, integrating high-performance components that comply with the most stringent environmental and EMI/EMC regulations. The product uses low-profile, high-efficiency antennas and a high-performance positioning and tracking unit, allowing the terminal to be operated anywhere in the world.

In order to meet the diverse needs of its customers, INSTER has developed single band and dual band terminals in X, Ka and Ku frequencies.

The SGoSat family of terminals can also be configured with a wide range of radomes (including ballistic options) to suit customer requirements.
