SATNUS has carried out its first flight test campaign of the NGWS/FCAS programme

Aerospace and Defence

  • SATNUS Technologies S.L. is the company formed by GMV, Sener and Tecnobit-Grupo Oesía, to lead all the activities, at national level, of the Technological Pillar of Remote Operators of the Next Generation Weapon System (NGWS) within the scope of the Future Air Combat System (FCAS).

Madrid, January 29, 2025 – SATNUS has recently carried out the planned flight test campaign at the facilities of the El Arenosillo Experimentation Center (CEDEA), in Huelva. This campaign has been framed within the activities assigned to SATNUS in Pillar 3 of the Spain-France-Germany collaboration program NGWS/FCAS, responsible for the maturation of technologies for remote controlled air systems (Remote Carriers) and team flight with manned and unmanned aircraft (MUT, Manned-Unmanned Teaming). With the support of INTA and during two weeks, SATNUS has carried out multiple validation flights of the MCSD demonstration platform (modified target drone system), meeting the objectives set and establishing new challenges for future campaigns. SATNUS has successfully validated the modifications introduced, both in the target drone in flight and in the ground control. During this campaign, in addition to the changes introduced at the structural level, the remote control, communications and FTS (Flight Termination System) subsystems have been validated, as well as different payloads. A first version of the DIM (Demo Information Management) system and the first C2 (Command and Control) prototype, both deployed on the ground, have also been satisfactorily evaluated. At a general level, tests of the multiplatform simulation tool have been carried out, integrating real and simulated aircraft during the same test, thus laying the foundation stone for team flights, involving multiple real MCSD demonstration platforms in future campaigns. With the achievement of these initial tests, SATNUS continues to progress according to the roadmap foreseen for Phase 1B of the NGWS program, with the ambitious final goal of demonstrating MUT functionalities with multiple MCSD demonstration platforms in flight.

SGoSat

Family of SATCOM On The Move (SOTM) terminals for vehicular installation and stable mobile connection

SGoSat is a family of high-tech SOTM (Satellite Comms On The Move) terminals that are installed in a vehicle, providing the ability to target and maintain a stable connection to the satellite when the vehicle is in motion in any type of conditions.

The SGoSat family is composed of versatile terminals, which can be installed on any type of platform: trains and buses, military and/or government vehicles, aircraft, ships, etc. Originally designed for the military sector, SGoSat terminals are extremely reliable and robust, integrating high-performance components that comply with the most stringent environmental and EMI/EMC regulations. The product uses low-profile, high-efficiency antennas and a high-performance positioning and tracking unit, allowing the terminal to be operated anywhere in the world.

In order to meet the diverse needs of its customers, INSTER has developed single band and dual band terminals in X, Ka and Ku frequencies.

The SGoSat family of terminals can also be configured with a wide range of radomes (including ballistic options) to suit customer requirements.
